You've heard about Ichiro Akuto, right? If you haven't, it's time that you did! He is a rock star of the Japanese whisky world, and his family have been in the alcoholic beverage making industry since the 1600s. Ichiro's father ran the Hanyu distillery and began experimenting with whisky making, until his unfortunate bankruptcy. Ichiro then founded his own distillery, named Chichibu, located in Saitama, just outside of Tokyo. The new distillery isn't 15 years old yet, but this particular bottle is from the Hanyu distillery – one of Japan's silent distilleries – making it as rare, and as valuable as whiskies can possibly get. Distilled in 1995, this 15 year old was finished in a French oak. You have to try this out!
